Candidates resident in a country outside Western Europe can submit their application for the Preliminary Rounds by sending a DVD of themselves to the IVC. This DVD must have reached the IVC by 15 June 2012 at the latest. A maximum of 40 DVDs will be accepted on a strictly first come, first served basis. Recordings will not be returned.
Each candidate’s DVD must contain three pieces with a total length of 15 minutes. Candidates may apply for one of the two categories of the competition: Opera or Art song & Oratorio. Please see our list of repertoire requirements and criteria for more information.
The recording should be a fair representation of the contestant’s abilities and be of high (professional) quality and must not be enhanced or edited. The audition material should be recorded within 6 months prior to the date of submission. Each piece or movement should be recorded on a separate track. The information of the applicant should be clearly marked on the cover of the disc. Furthermore, the repertoire must be listed, including composer, title and accurate timing of each piece.
Candidates resident in a country outside Western Europe can also submit their application for the Preliminary Rounds by YouTube. The same rules apply to an application by YouTube video as for an application by DVD.
