On 5 and 6 November 2011 Preliminary Rounds were organized for the 49th IVC that will be held in ‘s-Hertogenbosch between 21-30 September 2012.

Above-mentioned Preliminary Rounds were open to Dutch and Belgian singers as well as to foreign singers who either are resident or enrolled in a course of study in the Netherlands or Belgium.
Selected candidates of the Preliminary Rounds are admitted without further audition to the Quarter-finals of the 49th IVC in 2012.
Those selected for the final rounds will be introduced to the general public during a concert to be given on 11 December 2011 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
A total of 53 singers with 18 different nationalities were heard by the jury during these Preliminary Rounds.
