Jury

The special jury for the National and International Preliminary Rounds will decide which singers are to be admitted to the Quarter Finals. The International Jury will take over all adjucatorial tasks from that moment and will award the following prizes: the Prize of the City of ’s-Hertogenbosch (the First Prize), the Arleen Auger All-Round Prize, the Margie Weideman Song Prize, the Opera Prize, the Toonkunst Oratorio Prize, the Prize of the Province of North Brabant for the best candidate under 25 years of age and the Dutch Composition Prize. The Jury will also recommend candidates for the Händel Vereniging’s Engagement Prize and the Vrienden van het Lied Prize as well as selecting the voice and piano duos that will take part in the Elly Ameling Song Course.

Jury members: Preliminary Rounds
The Preliminary Rounds in Amsterdam on 5 November 2011 will be adjudicated by a jury made up of Roberta Alexander (soprano and teacher at Codarts Rotterdam), Marion van den Akker (mezzo-soprano, programmer and teacher at the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen), Eline de Kat (Casting Opéra de Monaco), Nicolas Mansfield (tenor and casting Nationale ReisOpera), Boris Ignatov (casting Vlaamse Opera Antwerp) and Martin Wright (baritone and Artistic Director of the Chorus of DNO, Amsterdam). The Jury will be chaired by Annett Andriesen, (singer, teacher and director of the IVC).

The International Preliminary Rounds in ’s-Hertogenbosch on 18 and 19 September 2012 will be adjudicated by a jury made up of Eline de Kat (Casting Opéra de Monaco), Nicolas Mansfield (tenor and casting Nationale ReisOpera), Boris Ignatov (casting Vlaamse Opera Antwerp) and others still to be named. The Jury will be chaired by Annett Andriesen. Candidates will be judged on voice, technique, musicality, presentation, intonation and potential.

International Jury
The International Jury will consist of the renowned singers Nelly Miricioiu (soprano), Peter Schreier (tenor and conductor) and Sergei Leiferkus (baritone), Hein Mulders (artistic administration De Nederlandse Opera, Amsterdam and future Intendant of the Aalto-Musiktheater, Essen), and three others still to be named. The jury will be chaired by Ioan Holender, former Intendant of the Vienna State Opera, one of the leading managers of the operatic world and currently an advisor to the Met and other great opera houses.
Candidates will be judged on musicality, understanding of style, choice of repertoire, quality of voice, presentation, intonation and potential.

Young Persons’ Jury
The Young Persons’ Jury will consist of students from the Fontys Conservatorium in Tilburg and pupils from St. Jans College.
