Prize of the City of ’s-Hertogenbosch (First Prize)
The Prize of the City of ’s-Hertogenbosch (€ 10,000) is awarded to the best singer in the competition.
Arleen Auger Prize
The Arleen Auger Prize (€ 5,000) is named after the versatile American soprano and was inaugurated in 1996. It is awarded to the finalist who in the jury’s opinion shows the best all-round professional skills. The Arleen Auger Prize is generously donated by Wim Scherpenhuijsen Rom.
Opera Prize
A special prize in the Opera category of € 5,000.
Toonkunst Oratorio Prize
A special prize in the Oratorio category of € 5,000 is intended for a finalist who has a particular flair for oratorio and concert work and will be awarded by the International Jury. The candidate must have sung at least five oratorio or concert arias during the Competition. The Toonkunst Oratorio Prize is generously donated by the Maatschappij tot bevordering van de Toonkunst.
Margie Weideman Song Prize
Candidates for the Margie Weideman Song Prize (€ 5,000) must have performed at least 6 art songs during the Competition. The Margie Weideman Song Prize is generously donated by the Van Nederveen Meekerk family.
The Prize of the Province of North Brabant
The Prize of the Province of North Brabant (€ 3,500) is awarded by the International Jury to a talented young singer under the age of 25. Candidates must have reached the semi-finals to be eligible for this prize.
The Staetshuys Fonds Prize

The Staetshuys Fonds Prize of € 3,500 will be awarded to a talented young Dutch singer by a commission from the Stichting Staetshuys Fonds. The prize is intended as an incentive award and must be put towards the winner’s studies. Candidates must have reached the semi-finals to be eligible for this prize. The Staetshuys Fonds Prize is generously donated by Jan Meulendijks and Bart Schuil of the Staethuys Fonds.
Prize for the Dutch Composition
The Prize (€ 2,500) will be awarded to the participant who best performs the obligatory IVC Song Composition by Jeppe Moulijn. The International Jury will nominate a maximum of three candidates after the semi-final round who will perform the piece again during the Final.
NTR Media Prize
The NTR Media Prize (€ 2,500) will be awarded by the press jury. Candidates must have reached the semi-finals to be eligible for this prize.
Rabobank audience prize
The winner of the Rabobank audience prize (€ 2,500) will be chosen by the members of the audience during the Final.
Young Person’s Prize
This prize of € 500 will be awarded by the Young Person’s Jury of students in voice and music theatre from the Fontys Hogeschool in Tilburg and pupils of the St. Janslyceum in ’s-Hertogenbosch. Candidates must have reached the semi-finals to be eligible for this prize.
Engagement Prizes
* Opera
The engagement prizes offered by De Nederlandse Opera (Amsterdam), Opera Zuid (Maastricht), Opera voor Vlaanderen, Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile and Opéra de Monte-Carlo will be awarded if the artistic directors of the said companies consider there to be suitable candidates.
* Vrienden van het Lied The Vrienden van het Lied will offer a contract for a series of three concerts in accordance with the VVHL’s terms and conditions to a Lieder singer. Candidates must have reached the semi-finals to be eligible for this award.
* Oratorio
The Nederlandse Händel Vereniging offers a paid engagement in their performances of Handel’s Laudate Pueri to a soprano who has given an excellent performance of a Handel aria. The Jury will recommend two candidates to the artistic commission of the Händel Vereniging.
* The Stabat Mater Foundation offers an engagement as soloist in one of the performances given by the Stabat Mater Stichting in 2013.
* NESKO
An engagement for 4 finalists or semi-finalists for a tour of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Nederlands Studenten Kamerorkest and the Nederlands Studenten Kamerkoor in 2013.
* November Music A concert will be offered to the candidate whom the jury considers to have stood out in performances of contemporary music.
* Laureate Concerts A series of Laureate concerts will be organised that will include performances in Rotterdam (De Doelen and Operadagen Rotterdam), Eindhoven (Muziekcentrum Frits Philips), ’s-Hertogenbosch (Muziekcentrum De Toonzaal), Heeswijk (Kasteelconcerten), Den Haag (Haagse Muziek Driedaagse), Voi-z Festival 2013 in Zwolle and the Grachtenfestival 2013.
