The world famous International Vocal Competition is held in even-numbered years, with the 48th and 49th competitions being held in 2010 and 2012. The IVC is already preparing for its jubilee year of 2014, when it will celebrate 60 years of existence and will hold its 50th competition. The IVC also presents concerts and recitals in the intervening odd-numbered years by Dutch singers and by foreign singers who either live or study in Holland. Singers can be admitted to the First Round of the IVC according to the results of the so-called National Preliminary Rounds; preliminary rounds will also be held in other areas, including the USA and Eastern Europe.
