
The special jury for the National and International Preliminary Rounds will decide which singers are to be admitted to the First Round. The International Jury will take over all adjucatorial tasks from that moment and will award, if the required level of performance is reached, the Prize of the City of ’s-Hertogenbosch (the First Prize), the Arleen Auger All-Round Prize, the Margie Weideman Song Prize, the Opera Prize, the Toonkunst Oratorio Prize, the Prize of the Province of North Brabant for the best candidate under 25 years of age and the Dioraphte Prize for the best performance of the compulsory test piece.
Jury International Preliminary Rounds
The International Preliminary Rounds in ’s-Hertogenbosch from 13-15 September 2010 will be adjudicated by a jury of five music professionals: Annett Andriesen (singer, teacher and director of the IVC) as chairperson together with Marion van den Akker (mezzo-soprano), Arnold Alons (casting director in Toulouse and Chile), Nelly Miricioiu (soprano) and Martin Wright (artistic director Chorus of De Nederlandse Opera). Candidates will be selected to go forward to the First Round in 2010. They will be judged on voice, technique, musicality, presentation, intonation and potential.
International Jury
The International Jury will consist of the renowned singers Dunja Vejzović (soprano), Edith Wiens (soprano), Sergei Leiferkus (baritone), Hein Meens (tenor), Ivan van Kalmthout (artistic administration Gran Teatre Liceu, Barcelona), and Hein Mulders (artistic administration De Nederlandse Opera, Amsterdam) and Lenore Rosenberg (Metropolitan Opera, New York). The chairman of the jury will be Hans Hierck (musicologist and former orchestra director). Candidates will be judged on musicality, understanding of style, choice of repertoire, quality of voice, presentation, intonation and potential.
Press Jury
The Press Jury will consist of the journalists Hans Heg, Peter van der Lint, Paul Korenhof, Bela Luttmer, Erna Metdepenninghen and Marjolijn Sengers
Young Persons’ Jury
The Young Persons’ Jury will consist of students from the Fontys Conservatorium in Tilburg and of pupils from St. Jans College.
