Elly Ameling Lied Course
The Elly Ameling Lied Course will be held on 28-29 September 2010. A total of five duos of candidates and their accompanists who took part in the Lied / Oratorio category of the competition will be invited to take part in the course. Accommodation for candidates and their accompanists for the nights of 28-29 September will be provided by guest families. The course will consist of four sessions of three hours: the two evening sessions will be open to the public. In the case of an insufficient number of candidates, singers and their accompanists who have not taken part in the competition may apply to take part in the course. This first Lieder course will be given by Elly Ameling, soprano, and Rudolf Jansen, pianist. Further courses will be held in 2012 and 2014.
Schubert / Mahler Masterclass 2011
Eight highly successful Schubert Masterclasses have been given since 1995 with a total of 118 musicians taking part from 21 countries. The Schubert Stichting will begin a collaborative project with the Mahler Stichting in 2011: it goes without saying that Masterclasses held under their common aegis will include songs by Mahler as well as by Schubert. Bass-baritone Robert Holl and pianist Rudolf Jansen will once again discuss Schubert’s songs, whilst mezzo-soprano Jard van Nes and pianist David Selig will cover Mahler’s vocal repertoire. Equal attention will be devoted to both composers during the daily afternoon and evening sessions. IVC finalists can take part in the 2011 Schubert / Mahler Masterclass without an audition. The Masterclasses will take place in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam from 6-9 April 2011 inclusive; eight Lied partnerships will be selected to take part, who will devote special attention to works by Schubert and Mahler. The Masterclasses will conclude in traditional fashion with a final concert given by the participants on 10 April 2011.
