Prize of the City of ’s-Hertogenbosch (First Prize)
The first prize, the Prize of the City of ’s-Hertogenbosch amounts to € 10,000. It is awarded to the singer whom the jury decides is the best participant.
Opera Prize
A special prize in the Opera category of € 5,000 is awarded to a finalist who has a clear affinity for opera and a real stage personality.
Arleen Auger Prize (All-round)
The Arleen Auger Prize — named after the versatile American soprano — was inaugurated in 1996 and amounts to € 5,000. It is awarded to the finalist who in the jury’s opinion shows the best all-round professional skills.
Toonkunst Oratorio Prize
A special prize in the Oratorio category of € 5,000 is intended for a finalist who has a particular flair for oratorio and concert work and will be awarded by the International Jury. The candidate must have sung at least five arias during the Competition.
Margie Weideman Song Prize
The Margie Weideman Song Prize of € 5,000 is awarded to the participant who in the jury’s opinion is an undeniable gift for song performance. The singer must have performed at least five songs during the Competition.
The Prize of the Province of North Brabant
The Prize of the Province of North Brabant of € 3,500 is awarded by the International Jury to a young talent under the age of 25. The prize-winner must have reached the semi-finals at least.
The Staetshuys Fonds Prize for talented young Dutch singers

The Staetshuys Fonds Prize of € 3,500 will be awarded to a talented young Dutch singer by a commission from the Stichting Staetshuys Fonds. The prize is intended as an incentive award and must be put towards the winner’s studies. Candidates must have reached the semi-finals to be considered for this prize.
Prize for the Dutch Composition
The Prize is worth € 2,500 and will be awarded to the participant who best performs the IVC Song Composition Das Narrenschiff by Dutch composer Wilbert Bulsink. The International Jury will nominate a maximum of three candidates after the Semi-final, who will perform the piece again during the Final. The International Jury will decide to whom the prize will be awarded.
NPS Media Prize
The NPS Media Prize of € 2,500 euro will be awarded by the press jury. Candidates must have reached the semi-finals to be considered for this prize.
Audience prize
The audience prize of € 2,500 will be chosen by the members of the audience during the Final.
Young Person’s Prize
This prize of € 500 will be awarded by the Young Person’s Jury of students in voice and music theatre from the Fontys Hogeschool in Tilburg and pupils of the St. Janslyceum in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
Prizes in the form of engagements
* Opera The engagement prizes offered by De Nederlandse Opera (Amsterdam) and Opera Zuid (Maastricht) will be awarded if the artistic direction of the said companies consider there to be suitable candidates. The Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona) has engaged IVC finalists in the recent past and will consider doing the same during the finals of the IVC 2010.
* Vrienden van het Lied The Vrienden van het Lied will offer a contract for a series of three concerts in accordance with the VVHL’s terms and conditions to a male or female Lieder singer. Candidates must have reached the semi-finals to qualify for this award.
* November Music A concert will be offered to the candidate whom the jury considers to have delivered the best performances of contemporary music.
* Laureate Concerts A series of Laureate concerts will be organised that will include performances in Rotterdam (De Doelen and Operadagen Rotterdam), Eindhoven (Muziekcentrum Frits Philips), ’s-Hertogenbosch (Muziekcentrum De Toonzaal), Heeswijk (Kasteelconcerten), Den Haag (Haagse Muziek Driedaagse), Tilburg and Zwolle.
Elly Ameling Lied Course
Elly Ameling Lied Course will be held on 28-29 September 2010. A total of five duos of candidates and their accompanists who took part in the Lied / Oratorio category of the competition will be invited to take part in the course. Accommodation for candidates and their accompanists for the nights of 28-29 September will be provided by guest families. The course will consist of four sessions of three hours: the two evening sessions will be open to the public. In the case of an insufficient number of candidates, singers and their accompanists who have not taken part in the competition may apply to take part in the course. This first Lieder course will be given by Elly Ameling, soprano, and Rudolf Jansen, pianist. Further courses will be held in 2012 and 2014.
